Welcome Message from the National Chairperson, YALI RLC EA Alumni Association – Kenya Chapter

Welcome to the official hub of the YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa Alumni Association – Kenya Chapter!

When YALI was established, it was built on a bold conviction: that Africa’s transformation will be led by the ingenuity, passion, and resolve of its youth. Today, our Kenya Chapter stands as a living testament to that promise.

Our network is a powerhouse of changemakers moving the needle in every single sector. You will find our alumni revolutionizing agriculture, scaling tech startups, advancing healthcare, driving climate action, strengthening public governance, expanding creative industries, and fighting for social justice. Wherever real progress is happening in Kenya and beyond, a YALI leader is at work.

As we scale our collective impact, our primary duty is ensuring our members thrive. We are committing to a strong, practical welfare system that looks out for you, creating real safety nets, backing mental well-being, unlocking funding for your ventures, and opening doors for professional mentorship. Powerful external leadership starts with taking care of our own family first.

This platform is your space to connect, share resources, and find the support you need to keep pushing boundaries. Whether you are an alumnus looking to step up, a partner ready to collaborate, or a visitor eager to engage, welcome to the movement.

In Solidarity and Impact.

FRED TUNYA,

National Chairperson, YALI RLC EA Alumni Association – Kenya Chapter

About Us

About YALI Alumni

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), launched by the United States government, is a flagship program dedicated to investing in the next generation of African leaders. With nearly one in three Africans aged between 10 and 24, and about 60% of the continent’s population under 35, the need for strong, visionary, and results-driven leadership has never been greater.

At the heart of this mission are YALI Alumni—a dynamic and influential community of young leaders who have completed various YALI programs and continue to drive impact across Africa and beyond. These alumni are not only beneficiaries of leadership development but are also catalysts of change, actively shaping the future of business and entrepreneurship, civic leadership, and public management.

Through platforms such as the YALI Mandela Washington Fellowship, the YALI Network, and Regional Leadership Centers, alumni are equipped with the skills, networks, and resources needed to lead effectively. More importantly, they remain connected through a vibrant alumni ecosystem that fosters collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.

YALI Alumni play a critical role in answering the question: Who will empower and lead Africa’s youth? By leveraging their knowledge, experience, and networks, they are mentoring the next generation, initiating community-driven solutions, and contributing to sustainable development across the continent.
